Private Gallery & Music Pavillion

Client: Art Collector and Family
Engineer: Techniker
Photographer: Ioana Marinescuemail

A house with family history, on the edge of London, occupied by three generations of the same family. A Strong Artistic background leaves a large Art collection for which our client now needs more space, but they do not want to move. Our addition, a Terrace and Pavilion connect through a library gallery linking elements from original house, to a music room built in the 1960s. The Pavilion opens onto a terrace and overlooks a wooded garden beyond. The Steel and structural glass enclosures, facilitated by Techniker Engineers are wrapped in Cedar. The crystalline Gallery link remembers a childhood route down through the garden, flowers growing up to eye level on one side over neatly stacked books in shelves that actually substitute insulation in the wall. A simple interlocking piece full of bonds with the past, whilst definitively modern.
