Remodelled London Semi

Client: Lawyer and Family
Engineer: HRW engineers

A suburban home in North London, a large family (three kids) and a need to work from home. Another classic London problem. This time a roof extension is viable, a bedroom and study in the attic is lined with pale Birch plywood and lit by a large dormer and a skylight. This room becomes home for the eldest child. His old room becomes the father's office. An enormous kitchen under the eaves of a bizarre 1980's bedroom extension completes what was a disparate collection of parts. Huge glazed doors to either side of the kitchen lead to a newly landscaped garden room. The new materials of the home flow into the garden and around the older parts of the house.
